Whole/Half Beef Deposit
Save money and go in with a friend or two on a half or whole beef. Select from the options to reserve your slaughter date for April 2020.
The price is $2.50 per lb on the live weight of the animal. Our steers average 970 to 1,100 lbs. On average, our cut weights are about 55-60%, so estimate 490-550 lbs of yield per steer but will vary depending how you instruct the butcher to cut your beef. Both halves of a steer MUST be cut the same way. We will provide you with a cut sheet. You are responsible for ordering how you want the steer to be cut. We are happy to give advice but the final decision is yours. After the custom slaughter takes place on the farm, the animal is transported to the processor Kountry Meats in Elk Grove. They will cut and package the animal for you. Their current charge is $1.20/lb on the hang weight. So if your beef weighs 600 lbs before butchered, that is $660. Half would be $330. If you would like to come out to the farm on slaughter day, please let us know.
Based on March's processing of 2 custom beef, we estimate that your final price is about $7-8/lb across the board on all cuts, from filet to bones. We will provide a copy of the invoice to you. We may be able to deliver the beef to you for an additional charge or you can pick up at the farm or the processor Kountry Meats in Elk Grove or we will deliver to Walnut Creek Farmers market.
